Liza Davitch is an independent film/videomaker whose work has been shown at the Montreal World Film Festival, Chicago International Film Festival, Rhode Island International Film Festival, New York Independent International Film Festival, Walker Art Center , Minneapolis/St. Paul International Film Festival, and on public television. From 1994 - 2001 she spent several months of each year in Russia , Belarus and Poland to research and make new work. Her documentaries have included portraits of actors, musicians, and families in America and Eastern Europe , and an investigation of the after-effects of the Chernobyl nuclear tragedy on children in Belarus . She received a BFA from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design in Media Arts. Her grants, and awards include a Fulbright Scholarship to research documentary film in Lodz , Poland and a Bush Foundation Artist Fellowship.
